Kevin Hatchard says it’s ‘really funny’ that there is ‘complete outrage’ at Uli Hoeness’ comments about Bayern Munich wanting to sign Tottenham Hotspur hitman, Harry Kane.

The Bundesliga commentator and European football expert stated on Twitter that what Bayern Munich’s honorary president has done is the norm for him as he described it as ‘classic Hoeness’.

Rub out Manchester City’s name and write out Bayern Munich’s because the German giants are merely replacing the Treble winners in trying to convince Daniel Levy to sell Harry Kane to them.

They are probably struggling and finding that the Spurs chairman isn’t easy to deal with, hence why Hoeness claimed that ‘if Kane keeps his word, then we will sign him’

It’s probably not a wise tactic from the 71-year-old because Levy will just make Bayern’s life even more difficult.

But whilst Spurs fans understandably slam Bayern for how they are going about trying to sign Kane, Hatchard explained that they shouldn’t be.

“This is classic Hoeness, so it’s really funny how people are reacting to this as if it’s a complete outrage,” said Hatchard.

“Par for the course for him. Also, “tapping up” happens with almost every deal nowadays, and has done for years. Days of pearl-clutching about that are long gone.

“There’s no indication he’s trying to force a move. I think being the club’s record scorer has probably repaid the debt, to be fair.”

Bayern Munich’s conduct

If you rewind back a couple of years, a certain Pep Guardiola publicly came out and stated that he wanted to sign Kane – even former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique claimed on his Instagram story back in June that he would love the ‘very underrated’ striker to move to Anfield.

In the end, Guardiola didn’t get his man, but in truth, does it bother him? No, simply because he got a cheaper and far more dangerous Erling Haaland who just guided them to the Treble last season.

Given that Bayern aren’t a Premier League club, will that increase Levy’s chances of accepting an offer from the German champions? It wouldn’t be a surprise if it does.
