Salvatore Bagni has said that he does not think that Victor Osimhen would move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool or Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.
The former Napoli midfielder and pundit has said, as quoted in Tutto Napoli, that Victor Osimhen would not leave for Liverpool or Chelsea because they are not in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Bagni believes that the Napoli striker would join either Real Madrid or Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Madrid and United all have been linked with the Nigeria international striker, who scored 26 goals and gave four assists in 32 Serie A matches for Napoli last season.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are interested in the 24-year-old, with manager Jurgen Klopp personally impressed by him.
Sky Italia journalist Massimo Marianella has claimed that Chelsea and Manchester United want to sign the striker.
Real Madrid have also been linked with Osimhen.
Victor Osimhen tipped to snub Liverpool and Chelsea
Bagni said about Osimhen, as translated by SportWitness: “Osimhen won’t return to France because he already played there.
“The same thing with Germany. He doesn’t go to Liverpool or Chelsea because they do not play the Champions League.
“Of all the teams associated with him, for me, he would only go to Manchester United and Real Madrid. He’s not interested in the other teams.”
Flawed logic
Victor Osimhen may not move to Liverpool or Chelsea, but we do not subscribe to the idea that the Napoli striker would snub them because of no UEFA Champions League football next season.
Yes, Liverpool and Chelsea will not be in the competition, but for just one season.
Both the Reds and the Blues have won the UEFA Champions League in recent seasons.
And they regularly challenge for the Premier League title and finish in the top four.
Just because Liverpool and Chelsea will not play in Europe’s premier club competition for just one year does not make them any less attractive.
