Patrick Vieira is on the verge of becoming the new Strasbourg manager as a move to Leeds United is set to be ruled out.
Leeds United seemingly won’t be appointing Patrick Vieira as their new manager with the Frenchman heading for Strasbourg.
That is according to BBC Sport, who claim that Vieira is set to pen a three-year deal to become the new Strasbourg boss.
Strasbourg were recently taken over by BlueCo, the consortium who own Premier League giants Chelsea.
Todd Boehly and co are now turning to Vieira as the new face of their latest purchase, in the hope of harbouring a successful multi-club system.
Strasbourg narrowly avoided relegation at the end of last season and are searching for better with Boehly and co now involved.
Frederic Antonetti saved the club from the drop into Ligue 2 but has now agreed to walk away as Strasbourg go in a new direction.
Vieira is now a high-profile appointment for Strasbourg and their move will rule out a switch to Leeds United this summer.
Daniel Farke surely Leeds-bound as Patrick Vieira moves on
Reports from the Daily Mail in June suggested that Vieira was a real candidate for Leeds United job having left Crystal Palace.
Leeds – unlike Strasbourg – weren’t able to avoid relegation and now need a manager to take them back to the top flight.
Vieira was one target but he seems destined to return to France now, which will only increase the belief that Daniel Farke is Leeds-bound.
The Daily Mail suggested just a few days ago that whilst Vieira was in the picture for Leeds, they had agreed terms with Farke.
The German left Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of last season and now looks set to return to England with Leeds.
Farke’s history of promotions from the Championship has made him a top target for Leeds, seemingly ahead of Vieira.
The Frenchman’s decision to take the Strasbourg job may indicate that he knows a Leeds move is no longer a possibility, pointing towards Farke being appointed very soon.
