Tottenham Hotspur wing back Ryan Sessegnon is now wanted by Nottingham Forest in a potential reunion with Steve Cooper.

Ryan Sessegnon could be offered an escape route out of Tottenham Hotspur with Nottingham Forest now interested in a summer move.

That is according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who reports that Forest are ‘first in the queue’ to sign Sessegnon this summer.

Tottenham are allegedly willing to either sell Sessegnon or agree to an ‘extended loan deal’ with Forest in an attempt to move him on.

Forest boss Steve Cooper is thought to be a big fan of Sessegnon having worked with him in the England youth setup.

Cooper gave Sessegnon his England Under-17 bow and picked him for the 2016 European Under-17 Championships.

We have already seen Cooper sign his former England youth players at Forest with Morgan Gibbs-White and Jonathan Panzo arriving.

Sessegnon would fit a similar bill and Forest are in the market for another left back this summer.

Renan Lodi’s loan spell from Atletico Madrid is over and a return to the City Ground looks unlikely.

Sessegnon would make sense as a potential replacement, even if he would fit better as a left wing back or left-sided midfielder.

Ryan Sessegnon needs to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham thought they had landed a future star when they signed Sessegnon back in 2019.

Spurs struck a £25million deal to sign Sessegnon having seen him emerge as a real wonderkid with Fulham.

The move just hasn’t worked out though with Sessegnon unable to nail down a spot in the Tottenham side.

A 2020-21 loan spell with Hoffenheim gave Sessegnon playing time but it hasn’t really helped him shine at Tottenham.

Sessegnon has only managed 38 Premier League appearances for Spurs and his future looks unclear at best.

Destiny Udogie is set to kickstart his Tottenham career this summer after finally arriving from Udinese.

Ben Davies is another option for Ange Postecoglou at left back with Ivan Perisic surely moving on.

Sessegnon needs to get back playing regularly and playing under a manager who knows him well in Cooper could be ideal for him.
