Tottenham Hotspur have now joined a clutch of Premier League clubs with an interest in a transfer for Pedro of Flamengo. But Nottingham Forest are actively targeting him.

That is according to TuttoMercatoWEB, which reports that Brentford and Tottenham are two teams with eyes on Pedro. But Nottingham Forest are rivalling Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal above all for the Brazilian. Although no team has yet submitted an official offer to Flamengo.

Pedro has sparked interest in Europe and Saudi Arabia having enjoyed a goal-laden year. The 26-year-old has scored 26 times and laid on four assists during 2023 so far. He has featured in 35 fixtures across all competitions, including twice at the FIFA Club World Cup in February.

Pedro could follow Koulibaly and Neves to Al-Hilal following their high-profile transfers

Al-Hilal got a first-hand look at the dangerous presence Pedro can present at the Club World Cup. He scored twice against the Saudi side but could not help Flamengo avoid a 3-2 loss in the semi-finals. The striker then scored twice in the third-place play-off to beat El Ahly 4-2.

A transfer to Al-Hilal now would see Pedro link up with Kalidou Koulibaly and Ruben Neves in Riyadh. The King Fahd International Stadium team paid Chelsea £21.5m for the centre-half in June. While Wolves took £47m from the club now also managed by Jorge Jesus for Neves.

Flamengo have not given Al-Hilal, Nottingham Forest, Brentford or Tottenham a fee required for Pedro’s transfer so far. But the striker could expect a sizable wage to follow Koulibaly and Neves to Saudi Arabia. Yet a switch to the Premier League would also appeal to the forward.

Brentford, Tottenham or Nottingham Forest could give Pedro his second chance in Europe

Pedro joining Brentford, Tottenham or Nottingham Forest would mark a return to Europe for the Rio de Janeiro native. He left Brazil to join Fiorentina in September 2019 but only earned four appearances for the Serie A side. He would then join Flamengo in January 2020 on loan.

Flamengo made Pedro’s transfer a permanent deal in the January 2021 window for €14-15m (£12-13m). His loan had cost them €1m (£850k) but the total deal should now yield a sizable fee. Tottenham joining Nottingham Forest’s pursuit will surely increase Flamengo’s valuation.
