Instagram’s new app, which has become popular as the Twitter competitor, is here and people have been actively using and exploring it, but can you see who views your Threads?

Instagram Threads, just like any other social media app, has been subject to criticism about privacy issues, with many unaware of the features of the new platform and how they work. And now, people are curious to know who can and cannot see what they share on Threads.

Can you see who views your Threads?

No, you cannot see who views your Threads on the Instagram app. The only way you can know about the engagement a certain post is getting is through likes, reshares, and comments.

You can still see all the people who have liked your post. But, if a given Thread lacks reshares, likes or comments, there’s no way to determine if anyone has seen it or how many users it attracted.

So, if you wish to limit the reach of the post, you can always only confirm Follow Requests from people you know.

Furthermore, setting your main Instagram account to public or private will directly impact the audience on Threads, thus allowing you to restrict your profile to whoever you like.

Can you DM on Meta’s new app?

No, you cannot direct message or DM anyone on Threads, regardless of whether you follow them or not as the app simply doesn’t offer the feature.

Even though Threads has been touted for real-time conversations, it doesn’t facilitate a more private option for one-on-one conversations.

Several users are frustrated about the absence of the option to message their friends and followers on Threads. Many think this would be a very useful feature and has heavily contributed to the success of Instagram and Twitter over the years.

The app also doesn’t allow hashtags, which many users find annoying as it limits the reach of their content.

Can the new app be accessed via desktop?

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, Threads can only be accessed through the mobile app.

Meta does have a dedicated website for its new offering, but the QR code on it only re-directs you to app stores on Google Play or Apple to download Threads.

It is mandatory to have an active Instagram account to be able to access Threads. You can either enter your credentials manually on the new app or directly navigate to it from your Instagram profile.
