Leeds United are exploring a deal to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to bolster Daniel Farke’s engine room.

Jonjo Shelvey is emerging as a target for Leeds United with Daniel Farke desperate to add new midfielders.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Leeds have now asked about a potential deal for Shelvey.

The Whites have seen Marc Roca join Real Betis this summer whilst Tyler Adams has completed a move to Bournemouth.

Add in that Weston McKennie’s disappointing loan spell is over and Leeds really need more midfield options.

Ethan Ampadu has come in but Leeds need more and Shelvey is now emerging as a potential signing.

Forest only signed Shelvey in January, handing him a deal worth around £70,000-a-week as he left Newcastle United.

Shelvey just hasn’t managed to fit in at Forest though and Steve Cooper seems happy to let him move on with Leeds now keen.

Jonjo Shelvey needs to get his career back on track

Shelvey may well be tempted by a move to Elland Road in an attempt to kick-start his career once again.

The 31-year-old had to bounce back after failing to make the grade at Liverpool and did so in style with Swansea City and Newcastle.

Shelvey was gradually phased out at Newcastle though as they moved rapidly following their takeover.

Shelvey played just five times for Newcastle in the first half of last season and isn’t playing regularly for Forest either.

The former England international is in danger of seeing his career fizzle out now and really needs to prioritise guaranteed first-team minutes.

Leeds can offer that prospect and Daniel Farke would love to take them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Shelvey can play a key role in that and the move should appeal after such a disappointing spell at Forest.
