West Ham United have submitted an offer to sign Dinamo Zagreb defender Josip Sutalo but it’s not enough to strike a deal.

Dinamo Zagreb star Josip Sutalo is wanted by both West Ham United and Nottingham Forest this summer.

That is according to Germanijak over in Croatia, who claim that interest in defender Sutalo is mounting.

It’s stated that both West Ham and Nottingham Forest have come forward with offers to sign Sutalo.

The report claims that neither offer is likely to be accepted as they are largely the same as Ajax’s offer for the defender.

Ajax have offered €20million (£17million) plus bonuses but Dinamo are completely refusing to sell right now.

The reason is that Dinamo take on AEK Athens in the Champions League qualifiers on Tuesday with a vital first leg on the horizon.

Dinamo don’t want to hamper their chances in that game by pulling Sutalo out of contention due to a transfer.

That means any interested clubs will have to wait, most probably until after the second leg takes place next week.

It’s hardly an ideal situation for West Ham, who will be looking for transfers to go through before the Premier League season kicks off this weekend.

Who is West Ham United target Josip Sutalo?

Sutalo hails from Bosnia and Herzegovina but started his career with Croatian club Neretva.

Dinamo Zagreb pounced to sign Sutalo at just 14 and he has been coming through their famed ranks ever since.

A 6ft 3in centre back, Sutalo has now racked up 86 first-team appearances for Dinamo having also spent time on loan at Istra 1961.

Sutalo is also a Croatian international with eight caps to his name and featured at the World Cup against Morocco in December.

Former West Ham defender Igor Stimac recently told Sportske Novosti that he thinks Sutalo is worth at least €50million (£43million).

Stimac claimed that €50million was a ‘realistic price’ for Sutalo having been dazzled by his Dinamo performances.

Dinamo likely won’t get anywhere near that price and with West Ham seeking a right-footed partner for Nayef Aguerd, Sutalo could be their man.
