Frank Leboeuf says he is ‘very surprised’ that Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid haven’t pushed to secure the transfer of Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich have been the ones hitting the headlines this summer, with David Ornstein claiming on Monday that Tottenham have rejected the German club’s latest offer to sign the England captain, as he posted on Twitter.

But former Chelsea player and World Cup winner Leboeuf thought there would be more transfer interest in Harry Kane, especially with Karim Benzema leaving Real Madrid and heading to Saudi Arabia this summer, as he told ESPN.

As of this moment, the only real noise is coming from Germany, with the English clubs perhaps not even bothering to waste their breath because they know the answer they would get from Daniel Levy.

Either way, the new Premier League season is edging ever closer, with Ange Postecoglou set to kick off his reign against Brentford.

There have been suggestions that if a deal isn’t struck with Bayern by the weekend, then Kane ‘stays’, as reported by Sky Sports, but Leboeuf thinks he still needs to go for the sake of his own career.

“Harry Kane, for me, is the best striker, right now, in the world,” said Leboeuf. “I was very surprised Real Madrid gave up trying to get him.

“I think it would be a fantastic move for Bayern Munich to get Harry Kane. I think it would be a good thing for Harry Kane to move to Bayern. He would have the possibility to be successful. He would be successful. He would win the Bundesliga. He would have the chance to win the Champions League. It’s what matters for him.

“He’s at an age where he needs to get silverware. He would be a very good signing for Bayern.”

If Kane doesn’t sign a new contract…

Then in 12 months, the 30-year-old becomes a free transfer and he can pick who he plays for, including teams in the Premier League.

If Levy knows that Kane won’t sign a new contract, then he better sell to Bayern because at least there is a chance of the player returning.

If he goes on a free to someone else, most likely an English side, then they won’t be getting their star striker back.
