Owen Hargreaves thinks the Tottenham Hotspur fans are going to have ‘a lot of fun’ with James Maddison this season.
The 26-year-old was one of Tottenham’s main signings this summer, and to no one’s surprise, he has hit the ground running under Ange Postecoglou.
Former England midfielder Hargreaves thinks that James Maddison is a ‘ball player’ who performs with ‘personality’, as he told Premier League Productions (28/08/23 at 5:55 pm).
For some, this transfer has been a long time coming, three years late for one Spurs legend, and in truth, they aren’t wrong.
When Christian Eriksen left in 2020, that was the time to bring in a player of Maddison’s ilk, but of course, Spurs have Daniel Levy running the ship.
Either way, it’s never too late and Maddison is in the building now, with Hargreaves bigging up his talents.
“What a ball player,” said Hargreaves. “Goals, assists and personality. Tottenham fans are going to have a lot of fun with James Maddison.”
Can Maddison fire Spurs to Europe?
That’s the main aim this season after their eighth-placed finish last time out, which also saw Antonio Conte sacked.
Spurs fans can see the eye-catching style of play Ange Postecoglou has brought to the table, but they also need stability with it.
One way to help him out is bringing in more players like Maddison because the England star has shown the impact he has made in such a short space of time – there is talk of Brennan Johnson coming in from Nottingham Forest.
