Tony Cascarino says Liverpool transfer target Romeo Lavia will leave Southampton this summer, alongside West Ham United transfer target, James Ward-Prowse.

The duo were named in Southampton’s squad for their opening Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.

James Ward-Prowse started the game and also assisted Che Adams’ late winner, whilst Romeo Lavia was an unused substitute.

Former Premier League striker Cascarino admitted that it’s ‘strange’ that players can start a season with one team, then in next to no time, end up at another, as he told talkSPORT.

Well, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in need of more midfield players this summer, they are pushing for Lavia, with Jamie Carragher frustrated at the current situation, in the meantime, West Ham United are yet to spend a penny of the Declan Rice money and mixed messages are coming out about Ward-Prowse – Tottenham are planning to hijack the deal.

Both players, if they moved this summer, would improve Liverpool and West Ham, respectively, and Cascarino thinks It’s going to happen.

“I know it feels strange, at times, when players are starting the season with a club and then probably won’t be there,” said Cascarino.

“Lavia’s probably not going to be at Southampton by the end of the window. And maybe Ward-Prowse as well. I think a lot of clubs have that predicament.”

Liverpool and West Ham’s transfer window

There are some questioning and expressing their anger at how Liverpool are going about their transfer business this summer, especially after Manchester United signed Rasmus Hojlund.

But it can’t be as bad as what’s happening at the London Stadium.

Rice was out of the door last month, the new season is starting this week and nobody has signed yet, even if they get deals done, they have put David Moyes in a sticky spot.

Last season, after spending big, his players struggled for most of the Premier League campaign and the new guys might fall into that boat again because they have had no pre-season to work in their new environment.
