Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Dominik Szoboszlai did not play well in the first half against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Dominik Szoboszlai was in action for Liverpool in the Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home at Molineux Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds won 3-1.

Szoboszlai started on the right of a midfield-three in a 4-3-3 formation for Liverpool.

The 22-year-old Hungary international attacking midfielder played for the entire 90 minutes.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Szoboszlai, who moved to the Reds in the summer transfer window, did not play well, especially in the first half.

Klopp, though, has noted that the youngster did better in the second period and turned it around.

The German boss told Liverpool’s official website about Szoboszlai: “We have to say, he has a massive influence on our game already. He didn’t play well first half; he was there, he lost balls and stuff like this where you think, ‘Oh God.’

“We lost so many balls. I think the main situations of Wolves were when we gave the ball away pretty much in the centre-circle and then they had the counter-attacks.

“And then had the diagonal balls to Neto, obviously we left Joey in a one-v-one situation, Neto in a really good first half. Those were the moments and that doesn’t help.

“But he stays in the game, that’s probably the biggest strength – so it’s not a great game but he stays in the game.

“Second half we played Curtis and Dom on a double-six, which is a very offensive double-six but they did really well, they did really smart both of them. And so he turned it into a really good game.”

Performance review of Dominik Szoboszlai

Liverpool as a team did not have the best of times in the first half and struggled against Wolves.

And, among the players who struggled was Dominik Szoboszlai.

However, the Hungarian star stepped up his game in the second period and did get back to the level he had shown in previous matches.

Szoboszlai was aggressive in the second period and played with a real purpose.

What was very encouraging was that the 22-year-old was eager to take responsibility and did not shy away from asking for the ball.
