Wilderness is the latest thriller to land on Prime Video and it takes a tour of some stunning locations but where exactly was the series filmed?
The filming locations used in a movie or TV show can often make or break the final product as real-life locations will often add more authenticity than a CGI backdrop. As such, Prime Video’s newest series, Wilderness, feels the need to get out there and explore nature.
Wilderness release date and plot preview
Wilderness clambered its way onto Prime Video on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Based on the book by B.E. Jones, the series tells the story of Liv (Jenna Coleman) and Will Taylor (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), a young married couple who seem to have everything figured out.
However, their rock-solid marriage and glamorous New York lifestyle are turned on their head when Liv discovers that Will has had a secret affair.
Liv’s heartbreak swiftly transforms into fury, sparking a desire for revenge and an upcoming sightseeing holiday around America’s National Parks provides the perfect opportunity for an ‘accident’ to occur.

Where was Wilderness filmed?
Wilderness was filmed primarily in Vancouver, Canada while other locations that featured during the shoot included Calgary, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon and New York City.
Production on the globetrotting series began in the spring of 2022 before wrapping after several months in September.
Wilderness used the Canadian city of Vancouver, in the region of British Columbia, as a primary location for much of its interior and studio filming.
Elsewhere in Canada, the city of Calgary as well as the Banff Springs Hotel within the Banff National Park in Alberta also featured during production.
South of the border in the United States, film crews used locations within Las Vegas, New York City as well as the Grand Canyon.
Meanwhile, additional shooting also took place in the United Kingdom.
Other projects filmed at the Grand Canyon
One of the key filming locations featured in Wilderness is the Grand Canyon, one of the greatest natural landmarks not only in the United States but also around the world.
Despite its world-famous reputation, the Grand Canyon has played host to surprisingly few film and TV productions, with just over 200 productions having used the location according to IMDb.
These include the 2007 film Into the Wild, National Lampoon’s Vacation, 2016’s How to Be Single, the Mel Gibson-starring Maverick, 1991’s Danny Glover-starring Grand Canyon and the Renée Zellweger-starring movie, Nurse Betty.
Wilderness is available to stream now on Prime Video after releasing on Friday, September 15, 2023.
