Ousmane Dembele is on the radar at Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur just months after moving to Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur meet in the Premier League today but could also battle for the signature of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele.
That is according to a report from The Mirror, who claim that Dembele could head to the Premier League in 2024.
Dembele was supposed to become a superstar after showing enormous potential with Rennes and Borussia Dortmund.
Barcelona coughed up a huge deal worth £97million rising to £135million back in 2017, but injuries and inconsistency meant he never really hit his peak.
Barca cashed in over the summer, heading back to France with a £43.5million move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 26-year-old hasn’t really impressed so far though, starting three times and coming off the bench once in Ligue 1, failing to register a goal or an assist.
Ousmane Dembele linked with Premier League move
Dembele may need to turn his form around pretty quickly amid rumours that PSG may let him go in 2024.
Luis Enrique doesn’t appear to have been impressed with Dembele so far, despite noting that he is ‘unpredictable’ and ‘magic’ at times.
A January loan move could be on the cards for Dembele with three Premier League clubs thought to be in the mix.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are all mentioned as potential destinations for Dembele if a loan move is sanctioned.
Dembele – hailed as ‘absolutely amazing’ by Ian Wright – may be reluctant to leave PSG having only recently, but competition for places is fierce and he could quickly fade out of the starting XI.
London move would be a surprise
Dembele certainly has talent but we can’t see Arsenal or Tottenham making a move.
The Frenchman surely doesn’t have the consistency – in terms of his performances, intensity or his availability – to appeal to Mikel Arteta or Ange Postecoglou.
Dembele would be second-fiddle to Bukayo Saka at Arsenal and Spurs already have Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson as options down the right.
West Ham’s alleged interest seems pretty ambitious too, and you could argue that David Moyes will be happy with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus as right-sided options anyway.
We can understand Premier League clubs fancying Dembele based on talent and reputation, but we can’t see Arsenal, Spurs or West Ham being his next destination.
