Sex Education may be saying farewell to viewers after season 4 but fans can keep the series alive by visiting the real house where Otis and Jean Milburn live.
Since Sex Education first arrived on Netflix in 2019, a number of the show’s filming locations have become iconic for fans of the series, whether that’s Moordale Secondary’s campus, the new Cavendish College in season 4 or Otis and Jean’s picturesque hillside house.
The filming location behind Otis and Jean’s house
The house that plays host to the Milburn family in Sex Education is a property known as The Chalet.
While most of Sex Education is filmed in Wales, The Chalet is nestled within the Wye Valley in the English village of Symonds Yat in Herefordshire, although the house sits just over one mile from the border with Wales.
The Norwegian-inspired home is over 100 years old and contains five bedrooms as well as a garden, outdoor pizza oven, deck and patio area, providing delightful views of the surrounding scenery including the majestic woodland and River Wye below.
Sex Education fans can stay at the house
Incredibly, Sex Education fans can stay at the real house filming location.
That’s because The Chalet is operated as a rental property and thanks to its size, it can fit up to 10 guests. The Chalet’s five bedrooms consist of four double rooms as well as one twin room.
The house can only be booked in four-night slots between Thursday and Sunday each week, although availability for the rest of 2023 is incredibly limited.
However, if any fans do have designs on staying at the iconic location, they’ll likely have to save up for a little while first.
That’s because a four-night stay at The Chalet costs an eye-watering £3,360 which equates to £840 per night – so staying there with a large group is recommended to spread out the cost.
The interior of Otis and Jean’s house is actually a studio set
Fans hoping to sit on the same sofa as Otis and Jean or explore the nooks and crannies of Otis’s bedroom will be disappointed to learn that the interior of the Milburn house is actually a studio set.
The interior of the real Chalet is, in fact, quite different from what we see in Sex Education and has recently been refurbished to add some modern touches to its vintage design – pictures of which you can check out on The Chalet’s Instagram page.
Following the release of Sex Education season 3, Netflix released a behind-the-scenes set tour carried out by Alistair Petrie, who plays Mr Groff, where he showed off the house set which had been built in the disused sports hall of the former University of South Wales campus in Caerleon.
Season 4 of Sex Education is available to stream now on Netflix after releasing on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
