Roman is one of several key new additions to the cast in Sex Education season 4 and fans are already full of praise not only for his performance but also his scouse accent.

Sex Education is back on Netflix for its long-awaited fourth season, bringing with it a host of new cast members as the former students of Moordale explore their new surroundings at Cavendish College. One of the key new arrivals in season 4 is Roman whose accent has caused quite a stir among fans.

Who is Roman in Sex Education season 4?

Roman is a student at Cavendish College and is one of three members of the school’s most popular group, the Coven, which also comprises of Aisha and queen bee Abbi.

Abbi and Roman are a couple and the whole school is mightily invested in their relationship, even going as far as holding vigils for them if ever they hit a rough patch.

Both Roman and Abbi are transgender and Roman especially proves to be something of an inspiration for Cal who is hoping to get top surgery.

However, Roman reveals that he got help to pay for his £10,000 surgery privately from his wealthy and supportive parents.

Sex Education fans ‘obsessed’ with Roman’s accent

For the most part, the characters in Sex Education have largely neutral British accents, with the majority coming from the South of England.

Therefore, Roman’s fairly strong scouse accent, due to the character being from Liverpool, is quite surprising to hear at first, but it hasn’t taken long for social media fans to come around and signal their approval.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “I am so obsessed with Roman’s accent from Sex Education.”

While another added: “I love Roman’s accent.”

“Roman was the only new character I liked, and it was probably just the accent,” said this viewer.

This fan commented: “I am completely in love with Roman’s scouse accent.”

“Roman from Sex Education is giving me life,” said this viewer. “Gender and aesthetic goals and the scouse accent is to die for!!”

And finally, this fan had to rein in their desire to copy Roman’s accent: “Everytime Roman in Sex Education says something I have to hold back repeating it in the accent.”

Although, not everyone was quite as taken with Roman’s accent: “I’m trying so hard to like Roman in Sex Education but I just hate the scouse accent too much, I can’t do it.”

While this viewer agreed: “As much as I love accents, my mind can’t process Roman from Sex Education’s scouse accent.”
