Frankie is a key character in the opening episode of The Continental but who exactly is he and what happens to him?

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for The Continental* — Beyond the main John Wick films and the upcoming Ballerina spin-off, the action-packed franchise is continuing to expand onto the small screen in the form of the Peacock and Prime Video series The Continental which charts the story of a young Winston Scott, the character played in the original films by Ian McShane.

Who is Frankie in The Continental?

Francis Patrick “Frankie” Scott is the estranged older brother of Winston.

He is an army veteran who served in Vietnam and is shown to be a near-unstoppable killing machine, much like Keanu Reeves‘ John Wick himself.

Frankie works as a paid killer for Cormac O’Connor (Mel Gibson), the current manager of the Continental Hotel which acts as a refuge for the assassins who work for the shadowy organization known as the High Table.

However, Frankie betrays Cormac and kickstarts the events of the series when he steals a coin press used to mint the gold coins that the High Table uses for currency, prompting a deadly cat-and-mouse search.

Who plays Frankie?

Taking on the role of Frankie in The Continental is English actor, Ben Robson.

Born in Newcastle in February 1984, the 39-year-old has been acting since 2009 and has appeared in 11 film and TV roles since then.

On the small screen, Ben is best known for his appearances as Kalf in the historical series Vikings as well as Craig Cody in TNT’s Animal Kingdom.

Ben’s film roles include appearances in The Boy, Emperor, A Violent Separation and Dracula: The Dark Prince.

What happens to him?

Unfortunately, Frankie dies by the end of The Continental’s first episode.

After Frankie’s theft of the invaluable coin press, Cormac O’Connor attempts to persuade his younger brother, Winston Scott, played in The Continental by Colin Woodell, to track Frankie down and retrieve the stolen property.

Winston pleads ignorance on Frankie’s whereabouts but discovers through several contacts that Frankie is taking refuge with his wife Yen in Alphabet City.

Cormac has Winston followed and after the estranged brothers share a tense reunion, they are attacked by O’Connor’s assassins.

Winston and a wounded Yen manage to escape aboard a helicopter Frankie had positioned ready for a quick exit.

But Frankie was not so fortunate as he sacrificed himself so that the others could escape and was killed by a pair of assassins dubbed Hansel and Gretal, although they were unable to retrieve the coin press for Cormac.

Winston becomes hellbent on revenge in the wake of Frankie’s death, kickstarting his path to becoming the future manager of the Continental Hotel that we’re familiar with in the main John Wick movies.
