Pascal Struijk is ‘interested’ in swapping Championship challengers Leeds United for Club Brugge in January with a bid of £13 million potentially enough to secure his services.

They do say the key to success is in creating a team with a sturdy spine. And, a world away from the scoliosus-ridden outfit which succumbed to relegation last season, Daniel Farke and co appear to have constructed a strong-backed Leeds United outfit capable of withstanding heavy pressure.

One befitting the ambitions of a club who won this league just three years ago under Marcelo Bielsa

The Joe Rodon – Pascal Struijk partnership, protected by the energy and industry of Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu, appear to the laying the foundations for an automatic promotion charge. Struijk, arguably the most improved player in the Leeds squad, has even captained the Yorkshire giants in their last five Championship games, Farke’s side emerging victorious on four occasions.

Suggestions that Leeds have lowered Struijk’s price-tag ahead of the January window and amid interest from Club Brugge, then, are bound to raise eyebrows. Especially with the Belgian-born stopper still under contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2027.

“Pascal Struijk arouses the interest of Club Brugge again ahead of the January transfer window,” reporter Sacha Tavolieri explains.

“Club Brugge has created a list of centre-back (targets), and Pascal Struijk is part of it. He would be interested (in joining Brugge). And, on top of that, the price has dropped from 18 million euros in the summer to 15 million euros.”

Will Pascal Struijk join Club Brugge? Let’s wait and see.”

Daniel Farke’s leader

‘Wait and see’, indeed. Club Brugge reportedly held talks with Struijk over the summer, per Tavolieri. But it is hard to imagine Leeds accepting an offer – especially one of just £13 million – for a player deemed so important under Farke that he has even taken the armband in Liam Cooper’s absence.

“He adapted well to my demands. He’s played a crucial part,” Farke said of Struijk three weeks ago, via LeedsPress

“We don’t have to talk about his skills with the ball. I’m very pleased with his development.”
