» » » ‘You can’t just’: John Terry slams £165,000-a-week Tottenham Hotspur player v Chelsea

Cristian Romero has been one of the best players for Tottenham Hotspur this season, but the defender let his Spurs teammates down against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in the London derby on Monday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur are doing extremely well in the Premier League at the moment and are probably in the mix for the title.

Chelsea have not been particularly great this campaign and will probably be happy with a place in the top four.

Tottenham and Chelsea are bitter London rivals, so the Premier League match between them at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening was expected to be hugely entertaining.

And, it did not disappoint.

However, one thing that no one wants to see in a football match is a red card for a bad challenge.

Cristian Romero sent off for Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea

And, Cristian Romero was guilty of that in the London derby.

In the build-up to a disallowed goal from Chelsea star Raheem Sterling, Romero caught Levi Colwill on the leg.

It did look like the £165,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender had kicked Colwill.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League that it reminded him of the David Beckham incident at the 1998 World Cup.

John Terry slams Cristian Romero

As you can see below, Chelsea legend John Terry was not happy at all that Romero stayed on the pitch.

However, minutes later, Romero was sent off.

The 2022 Qatar World Cup winner with Argentina committed a foul on Enzo Fernandez.

It was a really bad challenge from Romero, who was deservedly sent off.

Chelsea were awarded a penalty, and they scored from it.

We all know that Romero can be rash.

But, it did genuinely look this season that he had changed for the better.

Apparently not.

Romero is not a young player anymore.

He is 25 now and is a mature footballer.

I believe that the Tottenham defender needs to change his ways.

For good.
