Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has praised Leandro Trossard for improving his work rate since joining the club from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Leandro Trossard has dazzled Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta having improved his work rate in an Arsenal shirt.

The Gunners claimed another victory on Saturday afternoon, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard both found the net inside the opening 15 minutes, seemingly putting Arsenal on the path to a big win.

Arsenal couldn’t put the game away though and Matheus Cunha gave Wolves hope with a late goal, only for Arteta’s men to claim the 2-1 victory.

Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal ace Leandro Trossard

Arsenal now sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Arteta will want better from his side moving forward having almost allowed Wolves back into the game, but he did offer huge praise to Trossard.

The Belgian featured in midfield again for Arsenal on Saturday, joining Odegaard and Declan Rice in Arteta’s engine room.

£27m ace Trossard is a winger by trade and has even played as a false nine at times in an Arsenal shirt.

Arteta is now trying him in midfield and seemingly loves what he has seen – especially in terms of Trossard’s work rate.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website that he thinks Trossard’s work rate ‘has gone through the roof’ as he is pressing and chasing all over the pitch.

Trossard’s versatility is also impressing Arteta, with the Arsenal boss hailing his ability in tight spaces too.

“That’s the beauty of having him, he can play as a nine, as an attacking midfielder, as a winger, he’s so intelligent and his work rate has gone through the roof, you see how he’s chasing people, how he’s pressing and he’s got this talent in small spaces to find openings and gaps, I am really happy with him,” said Arteta.

Trossard stepping up in problem position for Arsenal

Arsenal sold Granit Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen over the summer and replacing him hasn’t exactly been easy.

Kai Havertz came in but has blown hot and cold whilst Fabio Vieira has either been injured or ineffectual.

Declan Rice can play in that role but has been required to play a little deeper amid Thomas Partey’s injury woes.

Arteta has been looking for somebody to step up and Trossard is now doing that, impressing in this new role.

Trossard recorded two shots on target, two tackles won, three interceptions and one key pass, contributing both defensively and going forward.

Trossard is still learning but he is just so good in and out of possession that Arteta may stick with him in that midfield role moving forward.
