Pundit Jamie Carragher has taken to social media to suggest that Darwin Nunez should always be in the Liverpool starting lineup for big games.

Liverpool hosted Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening in a top-of-the-table clash ahead of Christmas Day.

Arsenal were in dreamland early on as Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring, only for Mohamed Salah to level it up for the Reds.

Both teams went for the winner and had their chances to claim all three points, but it just didn’t come.

Arsenal will now head into Christmas top of the league, with Liverpool just one point behind them.

Jamie Carragher comments on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez

Liverpool didn’t quite click in the final third, as has been the case in recent weeks.

Salah scored his goal but blew hot and cold whilst Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz had little impact on the game.

Pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has now suggested that Darwin Nunez should be starting in these games.

The Uruguayan started on the bench but did come on to feature down the left flank.

Nunez couldn’t find a winning goal but Carragher is convinced that he should be playing regularly in Liverpool’s attack.

Carragher has taken to social media to state that he doesn’t even care how many chances Nunez misses in front of goal, he simply has to start for the Reds.

Nunez has now gone nearly two months without a Premier League goal having scored in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in late October.

We still haven’t really seen Nunez develop a clinical edge in front of goal; his superb brace against Newcastle United earlier this season was a flash in the pan rather than a sign of improvement.

Nunez does pose a real threat with his pace, power and movement and may have given Arsenal more to think about than Diaz and Gakpo.

Jurgen Klopp may be tempted to go back to Nunez moving forward and a start against Burnley on Boxing Day wouldn’t be a surprise.
