Arsenal are now turning their attention towards Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke as a potential alternative to Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Arsenal may look to add another goalscorer in January as Mikel Arteta chases a Premier League title.

The Gunners look to be strong contenders for top spot once again but an attacking signing in January cannot be ruled out.

Brentford star Ivan Toney and even Napoli striker Victor Osimhen have been linked but Arteta and co could now look at a striker who is hitting his best form this term…

Arsenal now interested in signing Dominic Solanke

The Daily Star now report that Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

The Bournemouth striker was heavily mocked after four goals in his first 46 games for the Cherries having joined from Liverpool in 2019.

Nobody is laughing now though as Solanke has smashed eight goals in 16 Premier League games this season.

The 26-year-old is now playing his best football yet and it’s no surprise that top Premier League clubs are paying attention.

It’s stated that people inside Arsenal have been impressed with Solanke and Arteta wants him if Toney can’t be signed.

Arsenal don’t want to spend a huge fee but Bournemouth want £50million, unsurprisingly valuing their star striker massively.

Tottenham Hotspur and former club Chelsea are also understood to be interested in Solanke, who is under contract until 2027.

How much did Liverpool sell Solanke for?

The reason why Solanke was mocked so much in years gone by is because Bournemouth coughed up a hefty price tag for his services.

The Cherries forked out £19million to sign Solanke off the back of one goal in 27 games for Liverpool.

Solanke only lasted 18 months at Liverpool and many were baffled by Bournemouth’s decision to spend big on him.

It took a while to pay off but Solanke has now scored 58 goals in his last 135 games for Bournemouth, proving himself as a quality striker.

More than six years since his solitary England cap, Solanke appears to be knocking on the door again – and he could yet land himself a big January move as a reward for his improvement.

Hailed as a ‘dream’ centre forward by former Cherries boss Gary O’Neil, Solanke is thriving and he may end up back in London having quit Chelsea in 2017.
