Tottenham Hotspur coach Chris Davies has decided to stay at the club alongside Ange Postecoglou rather than become the new Swansea City boss.

Tottenham have adjusted brilliantly to life under Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian has brought a completely different style of play to Tottenham but the performances so far have been very encouraging.

That impact doesn’t just come from Postecoglou though; it’s his entire coaching staff and the way in which they put Postecoglou’s messages into effect.

Part of that is Chris Davies, who is understood to have made a big impression since joining Tottenham over the summer…

Chris Davies decides to stay Tottenham Hotspur

Davies joined Spurs as ‘senior assistant coach’, working closely with Postecoglou in North London.

The Welshman has admirers elsewhere though with Swansea City ken to lure him down to South Wales.

BBC Sport reported earlier this month that Davies was ‘emerging as a leading candidate’ to replace Michael Duff as Swansea boss.

That report indicated that Tottenham had rejected an approach from Swansea but Postecoglou left the door open a little.

Postecoglou told The Independent that the final decision was in the hands of Davies even if Tottenham had said no.

Well, the news is encouraging for Tottenham as BBC Sport now claim that Davies has decided to stay at Spurs rather than join Swansea.

Football London’s Alasdair Gold adds that it would ‘take something special’ for Davies to leave Tottenham right now.

Hailed as a ‘magnificent coach’ by Brendan Rodgers, Davies will now continue to work alongside Postecoglou for the foreseeable future.

It may well be that Davies would only leave Tottenham for a Premier League job despite never being a manager in his own right.

Heading to the Championship’s 18th-placed club didn’t appeal and everybody connected to Tottenham will be very, very pleased.

This is turning into quite the weekend for Tottenham; a 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Friday and now Davies deciding to stay put – Postecoglou will be a happy man this Sunday.
