Arsenal have finally got a side of title-winning quality again – which has not been the case over the years.
The Gunners have always seemed to lack world-class talent that could get you over the line in the Premier League season. Don’t get us wrong, they’ve had fantastic players, but not what the likes of some of the current squad possess at the moment.
You have Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba – all fantastic assets to the North London side.
But what if we told you there was a name not on that list… who has recently been interpreted as more expensive than Kylian Mbappe?
Kai Havertz is more expensive than Kylian Mbappe
According to CIES Football Observatory, published on 04/01/2024, Mikel Arteta‘s summer acquisition of Kai Havertz is actually more expensive than Mbappe.
It suggests that Havertz is worth a whopping €106.8M (£92.1m) whereas Mbappe of PSG is worth €106.2m (£91.6m).
This would also mean that Arsenal have made £24.5 million on the German, with Arteta securing his services from Chelsea for £67.5 million.
Now, this chart is merely an estimated transfer value, but as they predict it, Havertz is worth more than Mbappe. We don’t think that’s a phrase that has ever been uttered.
Other Arsenal players make the cut…
Three more players were deemed more expensive than the World Cup-winning forward. Those were:
- Bukayo Saka – €223.0M
- Martin Odegaard – €150.6M
- Gabriel Martinelli – €148.2M
These three do seem a bit more realistic. Bukayo Saka actually nearly tops the charts altogether, he clocks in at fifth – only behind Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.
Other Gunners to make the list also include William Saliba, Declan Rice, Gabriel and Aaron Ramsdale. A fine effort from the Gunners – who must be nearing one of the most valuable squads in world football now.
