Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given his verdict on Joe Gomez.

Well, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about the importance of versatility in his squad, and one of the players who has impressed him in that regard is Joe Gomez.
Klopp, who will step down as the Liverpool manager at the end of the season, has noted how Gomez has changed his position in defence and has improved as a player.
Gomez has been on the books of Liverpool since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Charlton Athletic for 3.5 million (The Guardian).
The defender was 18 at the time. The Guardian noted that although Gomez was most often used at right-back in the 2014-15 season, he “spent much of his time in the Charlton academy as a centre-half”.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website when asked about the versatility within his squad: “Very important, very valuable, but in general that’s how a football squad should be. It’s a good sign in general for football how players can… if you break down barriers a little bit in their own mind, ‘That’s my position.’
“Joey [Gomez], when I arrived here and in the time before I arrived here, he played left-back. He showed as a very young kid he can play that but he is a centre-half.
“If you can play left-back, it’s obvious you can play right-back – that’s what Joey did in a specific way very good, unfortunately often enough for some reasons but very good.
“And now he plays the role either side. It’s a really good example for versatility, development and improvement.”
My View: Joe Gomez needs to consider his Liverpool future
In my opinion, Joe Gomez has to consider his future at Liverpool at the end of the season. He is under contract with the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners until the summer of 2027.
Gomez is not guaranteed a place in the Liverpool starting lineup under manager Jurgen Klopp, who has publicly praised him before.
Yes, under a new manager, he could get chances, but there is no guarantee that he would.
Gomez has made 11 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Reds this season. He has given one assist in those games.
The defender has made 128 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. He has given five assists and kept 45 clean sheets in those matches.
