Luis Diaz has faced a long road back to finding his best form after an injury-hit campaign last season, but the Liverpool winger is terrorising full backs again.

Diaz made an enormous impact at Liverpool following his January 2022 move from Porto.

Liverpool fans saw a quick, dangerous and fiery winger who provided the kind of intensity – both and on off the ball – that Jurgen Klopp absolutely loves.

Diaz seemed primed for a huge 2022-23 season, but knee problems limited him and his first half of this campaign was a little hot and cold.

We even saw Diaz go through a stressful personal situation with his parents kidnapped earlier this season, but some have still questioned his future.

Jamie Carragher suggested in December that Liverpool may look to replace Diaz if he doesn’t find his form before the summer transfer window.

Diaz has really kicked on of late though, racking up four goals and two assists in his last 10 appearances.

The 27-year-old gave Kyle Walker a torrid time in Manchester City’s recent trip to Anfield and he has now caught the eye on international duty too.

Liverpool’s Luis Diaz praised by Colombian media

Diaz lined up for Colombia against Spain on Friday night and had a real impact on the game.

The Liverpool wide man was causing mayhem down the left flank and then set up the winner as Colombia beat Spain 1-0 at the London Stadium.

Diaz turned Dani Vivian inside-out before picking out Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz to score an acrobatic winner.

The Colombian media have praised Diaz with Claro Sports suggesting that Colombia had a ‘gold mine’ thanks to his performance.

They suggested that Diaz’s performance was ‘enormous’ and that he caused ‘serious havoc’, praising him for running until he couldn’t run any more.

“Colombia has a gold mine with its individual contribution. He contributed with a waist break to the central defender Vivian, whom he attacked for the cross towards Daniel Muñoz and the subsequent great goal. Another enormous performance from the winger, who ran until he was tired and wreaked serious havoc on the right side of the rival defense,” they wrote.

AS noted that Diaz’s piece of play for the Munoz goal was ‘spectacular’, hailing his persistence down the left flank too.

“Unbalanced on the wing, the Liverpool player assisted Daniel Muñoz after a spectacular play that he defined first to beat goalkeeper Raya. He struggled after the goal, he continued persistently on the wing without completing any dangerous play, being one of the figures of the match.”

Diaz seems to be clicking right now and Liverpool will be delighted.

The Reds are gunning for the Premier League title and an in-form Diaz just makes their chances of claiming top spot even better, with few defenders now looking forward to facing him.
