The former United forward and talkSPORT presenter has not been impressed with some of Fernandes’s antics during football matches.

Alan Brazil tears into Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes
Well, talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil has been speaking about Bruno Fernandes, and he is not happy with the Manchester United attacking midfielder.
The former United forward thinks that Fernandes is one of the worst when it comes to rolling around and trying to win fouls.
United manager Erik ten Hag wants an apology from Fulham for seemingly mocking Fernandes in a TikTok post, and Brazil understands why the Cottagers made it.
Brazil said about Fernandes on talkSPORT (9:15 am, February 1, 2024): “He is the captain. I hate to say – I am with Fulham. He goes down. He cheats basically, he cheats too much. He should be setting an example not doing that.”
The talkSPORT presenter added: “You know where I said about cheating cheating, look, there is no doubt that Bruno is a very good player, so I am not having a go at him for the way he plays, but he is one of the worst (for rolling around), he is one of the worst.
“Why does he do it? You don’t need to do that, trying to con the referee. If someone catches you, fine, no problem, see ref, come on, but don’t get down. Shocking, honestly.”
My View: Let’s not be too harsh on Bruno Fernandes
In my opinion, the criticism of Manchester United and Portugal international attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes is excessive.
I understand that as the captain of United Fernandes needs to be more ‘mature’ in how he expresses himself on the pitch, but he is a passionate player who lets out his emotions.
If United were winning the Premier League title season after season, then the people who are criticising Fernandes now would be praising him for caring about the club and being so passionate.
True, Fernandes does milk the fouls committed against him, but so do other players. He is not the only one.
Now, I know that it does not make it right, but please let us not single out Fernandes. Let us not be too excessive in our criticism of the midfielder, whose United teammate Kobbie Mainoo considers him a good role model.
Fernandes is one of the best and most important players for United and will play a big role in the Red Devils’ quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
The 29-year-old playmaker has scored three goals and given five assists in 25 Premier League matches for United this season.
