Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are having a wonderful season, and I think that there is one particular player who is playing a big role.

Tottenham Hotspur are doing well in the Premier League at the moment. The North London club are very likely to beat Aston Villa and Manchester United to the fourth spot in the table despite the defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

James Maddison has been superb for Spurs. The England international attacking midfielder joined Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer of 2023 and is easily one of the best and most important players in Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The £40 million (Sky Sports) attacking midfielder has had injury problems this season, but when fit and available, he has done well. Alan Pardew rates him highly.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur playmaker James Maddison

The 27-year-old has scored four goals and given eight assists in 20 appearances for Spurs this season, and BBC Sport pundit Matt Jarvis has been impressed.

While watching Maddison in action for Tottenham against Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday evening, Jarvis described the England international as a special player. The BBC Sport pundit played with Maddison at Norwich City.

Jarvis said about Maddison on BBC Radio 5 Live: “James Maddison is a special player, you could see it when he first came to Norwich even as a kid. He’s progressing so well.”

My View: James Maddison is Tottenham Hotspur’s new Christian Eriksen

In my opinion, in James Maddison, Tottenham Hotspur have finally found a replacement for Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen, who is now at Manchester United, was superb for Tottenham. He was the creative force in the team, and Spurs missed a player like him after he left.

I think that Tottenham now have a suitable successor to Eriksen in Maddison, who has his best years ahead of him.
