» » » ‘As important as Harry Kane': Andy Cole says £18m Tottenham star 'deserves where he is at'

Harry Kane left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and joined Bayern Munich to win trophies.

When that news initially broke, it was devastating to hear for the Spurs fans because of how much he meant to the club, as a trophy in his first campaign in Germany was inevitable.

Yet fast forward to the present and Kane is heading towards finishing another campaign trophyless, whilst Ange Postecoglou has got Tottenham playing some of the best football they have seen in years.

Not only that, the goals are still flowing in like Kane is still at the club because they are the sixth-highest scorers in the Premier League.

One of the main reasons for that is the form of the club’s new captain – Son Heung-min.

On Saturday, Son joined club legend Cliff Jones on 159 goals during his side’s 2-1 win over Luton Town when he netted a late winner to further boost his side’s hopes of playing Champions League football next season.

Andy Cole stated that the £18 million signing under Mauricio Pochettino ‘deserves where he is at’, as he told Premier League Productions (30/03/24 at 11:00 pm).

The legendary striker also feels that Son was ‘as important as Kane’ when he was at the club and ‘did a lot of work’ for the England captain.

Son Heung-min equals Cliff Jones’ goalscoring record

“I have always said about Son,” said Cole. “I always thought he was just as important as Harry Kane when Harry Kane was at Tottenham.

“He gives Tottenham so much. He is unselfish. Gets himself into good positions – when he played with Kane, he did a lot of work and got in great positions for Harry Kane, so I think he deserves where he is at.”

Son Heung-min is a Tottenham legend

At the age of 31, Son is playing at the top of his game and performing like this is still in the peak Pochettino era for Spurs.

The South Korean star has 15 league goals from 26 matches, including eight assists.

These are serious numbers from the player and it all further signals why he is a Tottenham legend.

There won’t be any trophy for Son this season, but fans will be hoping he can lift that trophy before he heads for the exit door in the coming years.
