» » » ‘It’s beyond me’: Alan Brazil left stunned by Leeds United live on talkSPORT

The Championship title race is one of the best in recent times and Leeds United are in the thick of the action.

Usually, one team is running away with it – cite back to Burnley last season, Fulham under Marco Silva a few years ago and the likes of Wolves even before that.

But this time around, there is something in the water because the Premier League’s relegated trio, alongside surprise packages Ipswich Town, are going at it like never before.

Over the Easter period, Daniel Farke watched his Leeds United side pick up two positive results – their 2-2 draw at Watford and then beating Hull City on Easter Monday.

Even though Sam Byram opened the scoring for his side, Hull hit back through Fabio Carvalho, and for large parts of the game, were the better team.

But as the Yorkshire outfit have done all season long, they stuck their chest out, dug in and walked away with maximum points.

Alan Brazil admitted on talkSPORT Breakfast (03/04/24 at 6:15 am) that it’s ‘beyond me’ how Leeds managed to win that game and further boost their chances in the Championship title race.

The ex-Ipswich striker highlighted his former side’s stunning last-minute win over Southampton, before expressing his shock about the Whites.

Leeds United’s win over Hull City

“The day before, what a day that was, Ipswich’s last kick of the game,” said Brazil.

“Then Leeds, how did Leeds beat Hull is beyond me?!”

Battle for promotion to the Premier League

You just feel this race for promotion is going to go to the final day of the season and it would sum up the Championship if it did.

In truth, given how Ipswich, Leeds, Leicester City and Southampton have performed this term, it’s a crying shame that at least one of them is now going to miss out.

What makes things even better is that two of those sides will be in the play-offs, so it’s going to get even spicier once the season is over.

But, out of all those teams, there is less pressure on Ipswich because they are a newly-promoted team, so they are going to be very dangerous during the final weeks of the campaign.
