Chelsea, Jadon Sancho and Dominic Solanke currently have one thing in common and that’s ending the season strong.
The Bournemouth hitman scored again on Saturday during his side’s defeat to Brentford – his 19th of the Premier League campaign and hours later Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 to boost their European hopes.
On the other hand, Manchester United star Jadon Sancho is in the Champions League final, with his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund going much better than he expected.
At the start of the campaign, Chelsea were in a world of trouble, they were getting verbal pelters left, right and centre, yet they are now coming through it all and in with a chance of securing a top-six finish in the Premier League.
The under-fire Mauricio Pochettino is level on points with sixth-placed Newcastle United after their 1-1 draw against Brighton.
As for Sancho, he wasn’t even making the matchday squad for Manchester United, after a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.
And, for Solanke, there came a point in his career, at Chelsea and Liverpool, where his potential wasn’t being showcased out on the pitch, yet he stuck by it and is now flying in the Premier League.
Another man who would have been going through the same difficulties this season is Reece James given his injury woes.
The 24-year-old returned during his side’s win over Forest on Saturday, and instantly, made an impact by assisting Nicholas Jackson for the winner late on in the game.
James expressed on Instagram that it was ‘so good to be back’ and he ‘missed that feeling’, with the likes of Sancho, Solanke, Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish praising him in the comments section.

Dortmund star Sancho wrote: “He’s back”. Sterling added: “What else” and Noni Madueke stated: “My skip.”
Manchester City star Jack Grealish applauded his England teammate and Solanke added that James is “Back on smoke.”
Reece James at Euro 2024
You just wonder if Southgate will select James for Euro 2024, because as always, England are stacked in that right-back department.
The fact that managers can now select up to 26 players and not the usual 23 is a big bonus and it increases James’ chances of going.

There is no doubt that when the Chelsea man is on it, you pick him and probably even start him over anybody else.
But will Southgate be worried about the player’s fitness and lack of sharpness because that could come into his thinking? Either way, he deserves to go and should be trusted to, at the very least, do something from the bench.
