Everton might have survived Premier League relegation, but it’s nothing worth shouting about.
The same owners are still in charge and many fans are still worried about when that dark cloud will be lifted above Goodison Park.
But before any of that could happen, Everton might just be resigned to losing their top stars.
Some are pretty obvious and they have been well-documented, such as ball-playing centre-back, Jarrad Branthwaite.
But there are others who the supporters themselves would happily drive out of the door.
Neal Maupay, who was a £15 million signing in 2022, is a prime example of that after he spent a season-long loan at Brentford during the recently concluded campaign.
The Frenchman is probably more known for winding up James Maddison rather than scoring goals, with the 27-year-old only scoring six goals during his loan spell.
Darren Bent thinks Maupay’s time on Merseyside is ‘over’ and he can’t see him staying beyond the summer, as he told talkSPORT.
As of this moment, Maupay returns to Everton, but you just wonder if Sean Dyche would really want him as part of his long-term plans.
Neal Maupay to leave Everton?
“It almost feels like it didn’t work for him at Everton,” said Bent. “He looks like he is comfortable at Brentford. I am sure he would like to stay there
“But he’s goal returns haven’t been great. He had a little spell last season when he was scoring goals, but I think his time on Merseyside is over.”
Neal Maupay in the Premier League
Maupay winds up everyone, from Manchester United to Chelsea, and yes, he can probably take some himself.
But he doesn’t have much to shout about on the goalscoring front. He only has one goal for the Toffees and has netted 33 from his 160 Premier League matches.

Compare that to his 37 goals from 85 games in the Championship.
It seems as though Maupay needs to either take a step down, in terms of moving down a division or going to another so-called lesser league.
