The 2024 summer transfer window re-opens on Friday and Tottenham fans are going to be expecting some action.
Before the window can open, they have already concluded some early business, with Timo Werner returning to the club on a season-long loan deal from RB Leipzig.
It’s one of the easier deals to conclude for Tottenham, even though the German’s return has perplexed others.
But where Daniel Levy is going to be tested is trying to bring in the more expensive players and those proven stars.
Yes, a lot will depend on who heads for the exit door, but Ange Postecoglou has done enough to be backed in the transfer market.
One name that they might have to quickly forget about is Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The England star, who is heading to Euro 2024, has 12 months left on his contract and Spurs are planning a double transfer raid of their London rivals.
But Scott Minto thinks Gallagher will ‘sit out his contract’ because Chelsea don’t need to sell players for Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), as he told talkSPORT.
The powers that be at Stamford Bridge might not want to give Gallagher a new deal, but the power still lies with him, at the end of the day.
Will Conor Gallagher leave Chelsea?
“So, they are under the £105 million? They are under the PSR rules,” said Minto. “It might mean that they don’t have to sell. They don’t have to sell Conor Gallagher.
“I think Conor Gallagher has only got one year left. He is going to sit on that contract. They are going to want money. They are going to want good money for him – they need to change that rule. That’s exactly what the fans want.
“He joined the club at eight. His family are all Chelsea fans.”
Conor Gallagher at Euro 2024
England will begin their Euro 2024 campaign on Sunday when they take on Serbia, with Gallagher pushing for a start.
Many supporters may not want him to be named in the starting XI, but he is a player who suits Gareth Southgate’s defensive approach.

Either way, if the Chelsea star does earn minutes and perform well, then it might just increase his price in the transfer market.
But, more than likely, whatever happens with Gallagher’s future, you feel nothing will be decided until after the Euros end.
