Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been keen to praise a key player for Spurs after a 4-0 win over Everton.
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur kicked off the season with a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium with Jamie Vardy firing in a decisive equaliser for the North London club.
The Lilywhites were frustrated against the newly promoted Leicester with Spurs dominant during the game but the North London club could not break down the resistance from the East Midlands side.
Spurs have got their first win on the board with the North London side recording a 4-0 victory over Sean Dyche’s struggling Everton side.
Ange Postecoglou keen to praise Yves Bissouma
Spurs midfielder Yves Bissouma struck the opening goal for the North London club and they eventually recorded a comfortable 4-0 win over the Merseyside club.
Speaking to the media after his side’s comfortable victory in North London, Postecoglou was keen to praise the impact made by Bissouma.
“Yeah, Biss was good and we know Biss is a good footballer,” Postecoglou said as per Football.London. “It’s about him being the best version of himself and he will only get there if, as we’ve spoken a few times, discipline is a big thing for him and I thought it was a disciplined performance for him today you know.
“Not just the goal he scored, but he had a really important job for us. He knew they’d sort of play fairly direct and he had to be there to mop up second balls and intercept things and he was clean for the most part in possession. So a good performance.”
Spurs midfielders will be key for club this season
Spurs completed the signing of teenager Archie Gray from Leeds United earlier this summer and he has already impressed fans of the North London club.
Gray was a 73rd-minute substitute but it was Bissouma who stole the show to remind the Australian manager why he should still be a starter for the club, irrespective of the signings he makes.
Postecoglou did not start Bissouma against Leicester due to a ban but it is easy to forget the qualities he possesses on the ball. He remains one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League.
