Aston Villa have already completed eight signings this summer and Antonio Conte is eager to make sure it doesn’t become nine.
Losing Douglas Luiz to Juventus feels like a distant memory with Aston Villa moving quickly to replace the Brazilian midfielder with Amadou Onana.
They have now arguably started the 2024-25 season with better squad depth than they did for the previous campaign.
Villa are still not finished in the transfer window either – their scouts were spotted watching Lutsharel Geertruida in action for Feyenoord over the weekend.
They continue to be linked with a new striker too with question marks over Jhon Duran. Villa have enquired about Romelu Lukaku as Chelsea look to cash in on the striker.
Antonio Conte ready to block Aston Villa move
It only seems a matter of time until Romelu Lukaku confirms his Chelsea exit with Napoli still interested in a deal.
As revealed by HITC, Chelsea are locked in talks with Napoli as they discuss a potential swap deal that includes Lukaku and Victor Osimhen.
However, the two clubs are £10million apart in their valuation of Lukaku with the Blues wanting £35million for the Belgian forward.
With talks stalling, it has opened the door for Villa to explore a potential deal.
However, reports from Italy suggest Napoli manager Antonio Conte is willing to intervene to stop Lukaku from joining Villa.

As per Italian outlet CalcioNapoli, Conte is ready to contact Lukaku and tell him to wait for Napoli and reject a move to Villa if they table an offer.
A deal could hinge on Osimhen leaving and he has been left out of Napoli’s squad for the start of the season. The Nigeria international keen on moving this summer, but Chelsea have been unable to reach an agreement over a fee.
