Kyle Walker-Peters returned to the Premier League stage with Southampton at the weekend alongside one of three newly-promoted sides.

Southampton failed to beat ten-man Newcastle United on Saturday, but Leicester City did hold Tottenham Hotspur at home to a 1-1 draw on Monday night.

This is despite Spurs taking the lead in the first half through right-back Pedro Porro and looking as sharp as ever.

Tottenham should have had the game out of sight by the break, but Jamie Vardy came back to haunt Ange Postecoglou’s side.

There were several talking points during the match, including Tottenham’s club record transfer Dominic Solanke.

The 26-year-old spent most of his pre-season in Bournemouth colours and only trained with his new team when he joined them.

But Solanke still made his Tottenham debut at Leicester, where he had several chances to score, but his efforts on goal didn’t test the opposition’s goalkeeper enough.

Whilst Cristian Romero was slammed for his ‘shambles’ defending for Tottenham at Leicester, the noise and feedback around their new striker was more positive.

Given that it’s his first game and the first time he’s played with them, it’s a thumbs up, with the player feeling the same on Instagram.

Walker-Peters called Solanke a ‘player’ in the comments section of his IG post, with the club’s new forward sending the following message.

Dominic Solanke’s Tottenham Hotspur debut

“First game in white🤍,” wrote Solanke. “Shame not to take all 3 points, but we will keep working to achieve great things.”

Kyle Walker-Peters returning to Tottenham

The 27-year-old left Hotspur Way in 2020 to join Southampton and he went from strength to strength in their colours despite getting hit with relegation.

Walker-Peters made his England debut as a Saints player and also showcased his ability to play as a left-sided and right-sided fullback.

Sources have told HITC that Tottenham have eyed a return for Walker-Peters as they could still add quality to their fullback spots.

This would be a sensible move because Walker-Peters knows the club, he has that Premier League experience, he is now at the peak of his powers and his versatility could be crucial, especially with the team in Europe.
