Tottenham and Arsenal will resume hostilities on Sunday when they lock horns in the north London derby.

At this moment, international football is the centre of attention and Arsenal have some serious games on their table when they return to domestic action.

After Arsenal travel to Tottenham, it’s another trip, this time to Italy to take on Europa League champions Atalanta in the Champions League, before they face Premier League title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad.

Even though Tottenham is the game every Arsenal fan looks forward to at the start of the campaign, in terms of wanting to win the title, you would think that the game against Pep Guardiola’s side is the most important and difficult.

Arsenal finished two points behind Manchester City last season and a mammoth 23 points ahead of their neighbours.

Ange Postecoglou’s all-action style of play might have got Tottenham fans off their seats, but it cost them Champions League football.

But many would argue it’s work-in-progress for the Europa League side because they also lost their greatest-ever player of the modern era, Harry Kane, last summer.

Despite that, Martin Keown was adamant that ‘there isn’t too much’ between the north London duo, even if last season’s results prove otherwise.

That left Simon Jordan baffled, who sarcastically reminded the former centre-back that he is friends with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, yet he thinks that they aren’t anywhere near Arsenal, as he told talkSPORT.

Perhaps it’s Keown trying to play things down for his former side ahead of the blockbuster game, but Jordan was having none of it.

Tottenham and Arsenal gap

“I think there isn’t too much between the two teams,” claimed Keown. “Whilst there has been this period without a trophy. 21 years now since Arsenal won the Premier League. God knows how long it’s been since Spurs won a trophy worth picking up. When you go to Spurs at home, it’s a difficult experience right now.”

Jordan responded: “There is miles between the two teams. Do you expect Spurs to finish anywhere near Arsenal? This is the same person who wrote an article saying he wouldn’t put a single Tottenham player in a (combined) line-up.

“As much as I like Spurs and Daniel (Levy) is my friend, as has been well established and rehashed by Jim (White) on every opportunity he can,” Jordan added sarcastically. “Spurs aren’t as good as Arsenal. They are miles beyond Spurs right now.”

Arsenal without Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard

Declan Rice will certainly miss the Tottenham game because he was sent off against Brighton before the international break.

But what will worry Arsenal fans the most is the injury to Martin Odegaard. He is being assessed by the medical staff and fans are praying for some good news.

That’s two starting midfield players for Arteta and Spurs have to see it as an advantage to them.

But, of course, Postecoglou’s problem is that his team will still concede lots of chances, which is why this fixture is one of the most entertaining on the Premier League calendar.
