Dejan Kulusevski will return to Tottenham this week in some strong form after a successful international break with Sweden.

The marmite-like Tottenham figure helped Sweden beat Estonia 3-0 on Sunday in their UEFA Nations League encounter, days after captaining his side to a 3-1 win over Azerbaijan.

Tottenham face Arsenal in the north London derby after the international break and Kulusevki will be hoping to keep his place in Ange Postecoglou’s XI.

The 24-year-old has serious competition around him at Spurs, with Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert also hoping for starts.

Added to that, Dominic Solanke will be hoping to return for Spurs, with Postecoglou at least knowing who has performed well on the international stage.

Against Estonia, Kulusevski played the entire game, with Viktor Gyokeres netting a brace and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak also getting on the scoresheet.

It has been a long while since Sweden qualified for a major tournament, but they can’t argue that they have some serious attacking options to pick from now.

Nonetheless, the Swedish outlet Svenskafans rated Kulusevski’s night a three out of five, with the £25 million star hailed for his attacking threat on the ball.

It was even suggested that he has now started to ‘take over’ as his nation’s main creator.

‘Threatens, dribbles, passes and runs. He has taken over as the big creator now, and against a team like Estonia, he sometimes has a playhouse.’

Tottenham v Arsenal

This is a huge game for Spurs and Postecoglou because they need to prove that they can win these big, big games.

In truth, whether they play well or not, they don’t win enough of them, with Arsenal beating their north London rivals last season.

Arsenal will be without the suspended Declan Rice, which is an advantage for Spurs, who know that they are creating chances, it’s a case of putting them away.

Tottenham were wasteful during their defeat to Newcastle before the international break, if they show those same signs again, then they will be eaten alive.
