Two England games and two Man of the Match performances for Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
When Gareth Southgate was in charge, he rarely played Alexander-Arnold at right-back, and even at times, he didn’t play or select the Liverpool man in his XI – he was on the bench for the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain.
Added to that, Alexander-Arnold played in midfield at Euro 2024, a tactic from the now-departed Southgate that just didn’t work.
But after several years of not playing at right-back for his country, new interim boss Lee Carsley hasn’t hesitated and he has thrown the player straight in.
England beat the Republic of Ireland for their UEFA Nations League opener over the weekend and Alexander-Arnold walked away with the Man of the Match award.
Then, on Tuesday evening, he started again at right-back, this time against Finland, with another comfortable victory for the Three Lions at Wembley.
As you can imagine, Alexander-Arnold had the biggest smile on his face and he was sure to display it on his Instagram.
Virgil van Dijk and Bukayo Saka were just some of the players to praise the Liverpool star for his latest performance.

Van Dijk applauded his club teammate in the comments section of his IG post, whilst Ibrahima Konate simply wrote ‘again’ and Saka added to it by calling him a ‘player’.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool contract
The 25-year-old is out of contract next summer and, until something is signed, then rumours will continue to rumble on about his future.
It doesn’t help matters that Real Madrid are interested in Alexander-Arnold and you can just see him fitting in like a glove at the Spanish giants.

As of this moment, he is concentrating on winning more trophies with his boyhood club and thriving under his new boss, Arne Slot.
Liverpool have been backed to challenge for the Premier League title after their 100% start, with Slot taking life to England’s top-flight like a duck to water.
