One position Tottenham Hotspur could look to bolster in summer is that of goalkeeper.

Spurs currently have the iconic Hugo Lloris in between the sticks.

However, the France star’s Tottenham contract expires at the end of next season.

In addition, Lloris hasn’t been at his best this term, making a number of errors.

With that in mind, Spurs could well look to bring in his long-term replacement soon.

One player Tottenham have been linked with in recent months is Everton and England ace Jordan Pickford.

The Three Lions ace recently penned a new contract at Goodison Park until the end of the 2026-27 season.

However, it remains to be seen whether Pickford would stay put at Everton in case of relegation.

Graeme Bailey, speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast, discussed Tottenham’s goalkeeper search.

He claimed that Daniel Levy would “probably” be hoping the Toffees go down at the end of the season.

This would improve the north Londoners’ chances of bringing Pickford to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“We know Tottenham have been looking (at David Raya),” began Bailey.

“They have been looking at Everton’s situation and Daniel Levy is probably hoping that Everton finish bottom three.

“Because that would make getting Jordan Pickford a lot easier.”

World-class

Pickford is a quality goalkeeper who’d be a great acquisition for Tottenham.

His heroics for England over the years have arguably put him in the same league as Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton.

Pickford helped the Three Lions reach the Euro 2020 final and the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.

Trevor Sinclair called him “one of the best goalkeepers in the world” on talkSPORT for his efforts at the former.

Pickford has also done incredibly well for Everton, becoming a fan favourite at Goodison Park.

He deserves credit for his loyalty too, signing a long-term contract despite the club battling relegation.

At the same time, if the club does go down, you couldn’t blame Pickford for moving on to stay in the top flight.
