Craig Burley thinks only Chelsea’s January capture, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Manchester United star, Antony, are worse signings than Tottenham’s club-record signing, Richarlison.
The former Chelsea midfielder thinks Mykhailo Mudryk has ‘got to be’ the worst signing, even though he only arrived a couple of months ago, from the Ukrainian league and without any pre-season.
That’s different for Manchester United trickster Antony, who has divided opinion since moving from Ajax in the summer.
And it’s much more different than Richarlison, who already has that Premier League experience, after joining from Everton.
Nonetheless, when asked to share his thoughts on which high-profile signing is the worst, Burley spoke about following names, as he told ESPN.
“Mudryk, it’s got to be,” said Burley. “But I am not a big fan of Antony.
“Richarlison has been hot and cold. But he’s not always had game time because Conte hasn’t always played him.”
ALL THREE PLAYERS NEED TIME
All three are in different situations, but most importantly, need time to prove their worth.
For Mudryk, you can’t criticise a player that’s hardly warm in his own seat, he will need at least another 12 months to settle in. Look at Jack Grealish at Manchester City.
As for Richarlison, he just needs the regular starts, yes, he doesn’t have a Premier League goal to his name at Spurs, but he will come good if Antonio Conte doesn’t continue to use him from the bench.
As for Antony, he will continue to divide opinion, but he has shown enough that he can cook on the Premier League stage, it’s just a case that he seems to wind up the opposition with what he does outside the box, more than what he does inside of it.
