Artist David Choe revealed how he made his millions during a recent appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, so what is his net worth?

David Choe left an impression on Tuesday’s (April 4, 2023) episode of the Joe Rogan Experience as he strolled in with a red half-painted face.

That wasn’t the only thing that caught fan attention. The artist discussed how he made his fortune, which is over double Joe Rogan’s.

What is David Choe’s net worth?

Choe, 46, has a reported net worth of $300 million. The graffiti artist and painter is best known as the man behind the murals in Facebook‘s Silicon Valley headquarters.

Initially a graphic novelist, David self-published his work in the late 1990s but caught his big break when he accepted commissions from public figures, such as former madam Heidi Fleiss, in the early 2000s.

In 2005, Napster co-founder Sean Parker recruited Choe to decorate the then-fledging start-up Facebook. He charged $60,000 to paint the entire interior with risque designs; Parker advised him to accept the payment in company stocks rather than cash.

Choe opted for the former and with each share at $38 in 2012, the artist possessed $200 million in stocks.

The Korean-American has since illustrated for the likes Vice, Hustler, and Ray Gun. He has also hosted several international solo exhibitions.

His latest endeavor is a starring role in the Netflix series, Beef, starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.

Choe’s creations are not his only avenue of income; David admitted to earning millions from gambling and stocks.

“I had subscribed to the starving artist type,” he recalled of his early career. “I was like, Top Ramen and holes in your clothes. I was like, that is what a real artist is…until I met a successful artist.”

“I remember I was in my early 20s and man, people sure talk about money a lot,” he continued. “And I go, it doesn’t seem that hard to me and I’m like, what if I just try to be as rich as possible for the next 10 years? So, I did it. It was a lot of work.”

David Choe sported a red face, but he’s done it before

Those of you who aren’t familiar with David would be confused with his unique red look, but it’s seemingly a running theme. Choe attended the Beef premiere wearing a similar white tunic and the same necklace. The cherry on top was his red-painted legs and feet. Or should we say “on the bottom”?

He never revealed why colored his face for the podcast, but laughed that it was a clear indication that he was a Los Angeles native.
