Jamie Carragher has said that Vincent Kompany should not go to Tottenham Hotspur, noting the problems that Frank Lampard is facing at Chelsea at the moment.
The former Liverpool defender has said on The Overlap that Kompany should look at the struggles of Steven Gerrard and Lampard and must not take the Tottenham managerial job if it is offered to him.
While Liverpool legend Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers, the former England international midfielder did not have the best of times at Aston Villa and got sacked by the Premier League club earlier this season.
Lampard did relatively well at Derby County, but things did not go well for him in his first spell at Chelsea and then at Everton.
And now the former England international midfielder is struggling to win games in his interim-managerial role at Chelsea.
Kompany is in charge of Burnley at the moment.
The former Manchester City defender has guided the Clarets to automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season.
Earlier this week, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said on the Here We Go Podcast that Tottenham have spoken to Kompany about potentially taking the Spurs managerial role at the end of the season.

Carragher said, as transcribed by TBR: “It has to be a building process where you’re improving. There’s talk of Vincent Kompany and whether he could be that man.
“He may go on to be a great manager, but it’s far too early for him in terms of talking like this. Look at Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard who are two of the best players we’ve seen in this Premier League era, and Kompany is the same.
“I think there’s this rush to get these top players into big jobs. It didn’t go too well for Kompany in Belgium, Burnley has been amazing.
“I think we need to be careful with these top players and I think it would be far too early for Vincent Kompany.”
