The Netflix star hails from South Carolina. She grew up around a 30-minute drive away from Charleston in a small city called Goose Creek, which has a population of 44,500, according to Census data from 2021. She attended Charleston Day School and Pinewood Preparatory School.
Her mom, Pam Cline, is a real estate agent, while her dad Mark is a water systems engineer. In an interview with WWD, she described her childhood as “very quiet.”
“When I’ll go home and visit them we’ll sit out on the porch and we’ll have wine and we’ll just be sitting there and reading,” she said. “We’ve always been like that. So, it was just nice. It was sweet.”
She moved to Los Angeles at 19 years old to pursue acting
Now, the rising star lives in Los Angeles, California, having moved there in 2017 to pursue a career in acting. Madelyn dropped out of Coastal Carolina University after six weeks of her freshman year and decided to go West.
At 19 years old she drove her 2007 white Toyota 4Runner to the City of Angles and spent a year living in cheap apartments and working minimum wage jobs.
That was until she started scoring her first promising roles, including two episodes in Stranger Things, before eventually hitting it big time with Outer Banks in 2019.
