Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yasin Ayari has lauded Roberto De Zerbi as the best coach in the world amid reports that Tottenham want to hire the Italian manager.
Speaking to Atonbladet, the Swedish youngster lauded the Premier League boss having now worked with De Zerbi for the good part of two months, with Ayari recently receiving his debut in the English top-flight from the former Sassuolo boss.
De Zerbi has taken the Premier League by storm since replacing Graham Potter earlier in the season, and as a result, the 43-year-old is now a target for Tottenham to succeed Antonio Conte after the Italian left his position with the north London club.
The Express reported that De Zerbi is a target for Tottenham amid their managerial search, yet even after clashing with Cristian Stellini after Tottenham this weekend, the Italian could still be an outstanding candidate to take over at Spurs for next season.
Indeed, De Zerbi has made quite the name for himself at Brighton this season, and for Ayari, the 19-year-old has claimed that the former Shakhtar Donetsk manager is the best he has ever worked with in his short career.
Ayari said: “He’s magical. The world’s best coach. Everything works. When it comes to tactics, I’ve never seen anyone like him in my entire life. I am someone who studies football a lot. Many coaches I have studied and he is one of those who wen it comes to the small details, it cannot be compared with others.”
De Zerbi should be top managerial target for Tottenham this summer
With Julian Nagelsmann likely to join Chelsea and other targets set for other clubs, De Zerbi is slowly establishing himself as a top candidate to take over at Tottenham, with Ayari’s comments as glowing an endorsement for the Italian as one could ask for.
Despite only spending under a season in England, De Zerbi has captivated fans with his style of play at Brighton and his manner of improving the likes of Evan Ferguson and Moises Caicedo, and for Liverpool, the Seagulls boss could be perfect to take over as manager this summer.
