Arsenal are one of five clubs interested in signing Manchester City wonderkid Kian Breckin, with Tottenham also chasing the 19-year-old midfielder.

According to the Sun, the Gunners are keeping tabs on the Etihad youngster amid growing rumours that Breckin could leave this summer, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton also interested in signing the City talent.

With seven goals and four assists in Premier League 2, Breckin has been one of the most productive midfielders in England’s premier youth league this campaign. However, the teenager is yet to feature for Pep Guardiola’s senior team, which could be what is fueling a potential move.

As per the report, City are leaning towards a sale this summer, though like most of their young players last year, the reigning Premier League champions won’t let Breckin leave for cheap, which could put off the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham into making an official move.

Indeed, whilst Breckin has been impressive at youth level this season, the midfielder could find himself better off remaining in Manchester than moving to another top Premier League club, with the youngster unlikely to break into the Arsenal or Tottenham senior teams anytime soon.

Moreover, with Guardiola awarding the likes of Rico Lewis plenty of opportunities in the first-team this season, there could be a chance for Breckin to make a name for himself next campaign, where a move in 2024 could be more beneficial than this summer.

Breckin is at an unusual stage in his career, with the midfielder clearly good enough for first-team football yet still being eyed by big clubs as if the teenager is a prospect for the future. And as a result, the 19-year-old would be better off remaining at City.

As we know, Arsenal would only sign a 19-year-old if they had the quality to make an impact in the senior team, as would Tottenham. And whilst Breckin has potential and good ability, the midfielder could perhaps be fine staying in Manchester or signing for a club lower down the league.
