Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold following his performance against West Ham United.

The Reds made it three wins in a row on Wednesday night, beating West Ham 2-1 in East London.

Lucas Paqueta gave West Ham an early lead, only for Cody Gakpo to quickly bring Liverpool level.

Klopp’s men found a winner in the second half as Joel Matip headed home the crucial goal for Liverpool.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s defeat at Nottingham Forest means Liverpool are looking upwardly mobile in the final weeks of the campaign.

Liverpool appear to be really thriving amid Klopp’s decision to tweak Trent Alexander-Arnold’s role.

The right back has been drifting infield to play more of a midfield role of late, allowing his creative qualities to shine.

Alexander-Arnold make it five assists in his last four games, racking up 12 key passes in that run.

Jurgen Klopp hails Trent Alexander-Arnold

Much has been made of Alexander-Arnold’s defensive deficiencies this season.

Liverpool still need Alexander-Arnold to improve in that regard, but we’re now seeing his creative abilities front and centre.

Alexander-Arnold – a midfielder earlier in his career – seems right at home in this new role.

Klopp was certainly delighted with the 24-year-old’s performance against West Ham on Wednesday night.

Speaking to BT Sport after the final whistle, Klopp simply said ‘wow’ after seeing Alexander-Arnold’s display.

Klopp called Alexander-Arnold’s performance ‘absolutely insane’, whilst admitting that he was really happy with the whole performance in another Reds win.

“I liked the first half more, to be honest,” he told BT Sport. “The start we played was incredible, it was outstanding. We went 1-0 down but before that, we were already good, we did exactly what we wanted to do. You cannot create chance after chance against a team like that.”

“I loved the counter press, I loved the way we built up, to be honest the stuff Trent played was wow, absolutely insane,” he added.

Liverpool are likely to keep this experiment going in the coming weeks and if the Reds can keep winning, we may well see Alexander-Arnold in this role moving into next season too.
