Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is set to hit Netflix on May 4, and here’s a look at the cast. The series, which serves as a prequel to the beloved Bridgerton Netflix show, will look into the life of Queen Charlotte and her romance with King George III.
The series will feature the return of the fan-favourite gossip-loving character Queen Charlotte as well as Lady Danbury and Violet Bridgerton, the mother of the Bridgerton children. Their younger selves will also appear.
Although the Bridgerton television show was based on the Julia Quinn books (The Duke and I and The Viscount Who Loved Me), this Queen Charlotte spin-off is not. However, producer Shonda Rhimes and Quinn actually got together to write a book about Queen Charlotte and King George III so fans could see the story unfold on paper too.
Announced in March last year, the series will see the return of Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh from the Bridgerton series, but will also feature new stars
India Ria Amarteifio and Corey Mylchreest.Judging by the trailers shared ahead of the release, it seems that fans can expect more stunning scenery and locations, lots of romance and a touch of real history as Queen Charlotte did actually exist.

Rosheuvel is a Guyanese-British actress and singer. In addition to her television and film roles, she has a number of stage credits such as Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet (Shakespeare’s Globe), and the role Othello in Othello (Liverpool Everyman Theatre).
Speaking about her role as Queen Charlotte, Rosheuvel told Gay Times: “It is a beautiful thing when you see a young person of colour aged five or six dressing up as Queen Charlotte for Halloween or a birthday party.”
She continued: “It is a wonderful thing when a woman who is not of colour comes up to you and says, ‘I did a Bridgerton-themed wedding and a friend of mine came dressed as Queen Charlotte.’ I am so proud of that.”
