Arsenal are pushing to sign Montpellier attacker Elye Wahi and a first offer from the Gunners is expected very soon.

Montpellier forward Elye Wahi is attracting major interest and a bid from Arsenal is thought to be imminent.

That is according to a report from Foot Mercato, who claim that Arsenal and Monaco are ‘pushing’ to sign Wahi.

It’s stated that Arsenal have been scouting and tracking Wahi for ‘many months’ now and they love what they have seen.

The report claims that Arsenal are ready to make their first offer – but it will be short of the asking price.

Montpellier want around €30million to €35million (£26million to £30million), a price Arsenal won’t pay right now.

Nobody ever really pays the asking price with the first offer so Arsenal’s stance isn’t a huge surprise.

Monaco do want Wahi too and are tempted to float the idea of signing him to then facilitate a move to England down the line.

Monaco would give Wahi a starring role in attack with Wissam Ben Yedder approaching 33, a level of importance Arsenal surely won’t offer.

Who is Arsenal target Elye Wahi?

Wahi was a hot prospect in the Caen ranks but ended up leaving in 2018, eventually ending up at Montpellier.

Wahi showed promise in his first two seasons with the Montpellier first team, bagging 13 goals in 48 games.

The 20-year-old absolutely exploded this season though, smashing 17 goals in 30 appearances to take Ligue 1 by storm.

Wahi just won the goal of the season award in Ligue 1, and the trophy was presented by none other than Thierry Henry.

If Arsenal can get a summer deal done, Wahi would be following in Henry’s footsteps as a French attacker heading to the red side of North London.

Wahi looks set for a huge future and, if the reports for France are to be believed, Arsenal are hoping that future is at the Emirates Stadium.
