Ange Postecoglou is now looking to bring former Celtic coach Chris Davies to Tottenham Hotspur.

Swansea City want Chris Davies as their new manager but he may now be wanted on Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur staff.

That is according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who reports that Davies could be offered a move to Tottenham this summer.

It’s claimed that Postecoglou is looking to build his coaching staff and there have been links to Celtic’s John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan.

However, Postecoglou could now go for a former Celtic man by targeting Davies.

The pair never actually crossed paths at Celtic; Davies left alongside Brendan Rodgers in 2019, more than two years before Postecoglou arrived.

Kennedy certainly knows Davies well though and may well have recommended him to Postecoglou.

The chance to become a manager may be very appealing to Davies though.

Swansea are expecting to lose Russell Martin to Southampton even though that saga is really dragging on.

Davies actually served as Swans assistant manager under Rodgers between 2010 and 2012 and a return to South Wales may now appeal.

Still only 38, Davies may be tempted to take a first step into management – but it may require turning Tottenham down.

Who is Chris Davies?

Davies was born in Watford and came through the youth ranks at Reading in his playing days.

Whilst Davies was born in England, he did turn out for Wales at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels.

A midfielder back then, Davies was forced to retire at the age of just 19 due to injury.

Davies turned to coaching, focusing on youth development at Leicester City and then New Zealand side Hawke’s Bay United.

Davies became Rodgers’ assistant at Swansea in 2010, aged just 25 as he made huge strides early into his coaching career.

Just two years later, Rodgers took Davies to Liverpool; he probably couldn’t have wished of this kind of move.;

Davies stayed for a little while even after Rodgers left in 2015, but he ended up returning to Reading in 2016 as support for Brian McDermott.

Davies and Rodgers reunited for nearly three years at Celtic before heading to Leicester together in 2019.

Rodgers has hailed Davies as a ‘magnificent coach’ in years gone by and he may now be left to decide between Swansea and Tottenham in the coming weeks.
